David Monroe

Colonel David Monroe (USMC, Ret.) proudly served our country for over 34 years as a United
States Marine and later with the Department of State, defending American values here and
abroad. A Life Member of the VFW, NRA, President of the Marine Corps Mustang Association, and Chairman of the National Marine Corps Council,
Colonel Monroe has dedicated his life to service — and now he’s ready to protect Cape Carteret’s way of life from unchecked growth and outside influence.

Dedicated Service

Volunteerism

 

David remains actively engaged in his community with volunteer service.  Past service included VFW Post 9960 in Cedar Point (Commander and currently a Trustee), and the Maritime Museum in Beaufort.  Currently, David volunteers at the Broad Street Clinic in Morehead City.  Since retirement he has supported veterans, preserved local heritage, and assisted the less fortunate by assisting our county, volunteer health care providers.

Proven Experience

State Department

During his 23 years with Diplomatic Security (DS), David served on the Secretary of State’s Protective Detail for Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell, and was assigned to the FBI, New York Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). He completed overseas postings at U.S. Embassy Baghdad and U.S. Office Pristina. David's time in DS provided critical support in for the conduct of U.S. diplomacy and investigations into passport and visa fraud. A military career, State Department employment, and personal travel has resulted in experiences in more than 75 countries, reflecting broad operational and cultural experience.
